There is a shortcut that can help – if you right click on a variable, there’s a Duplicate option. It doesn’t work with multiple selections however, but it should get you part of the way.
the feature Composite Step Templates has started which should meet most of these requirements. The underlying templates will still be linked so that they can be updated as per normal step templates.
Very good idea and it should be implemented in the future.
This would be fantastic. At the moment we have to modify our scripts to adapt to our QA which includes the branches in their bindings. We basically have to set variables in a previous step in order to be available in the next step. It is too cumbersome.
We should be able to set variables and access them throughout the deployment.
Forgot to mention this... outside Octopus if I have:
Module 1 and module 2 and a main script
Module 2 is dependent on module 1
Main script is dependent on module 2
I import the module 1 in module 2 and in the main script I import module 2. Hope you get the idea.
In octopus I need to import both of them manually. But the amount of modules will only grow and then it becomes difficult to track dependencies!
