    I'd like this for hooks into Slack, Email, etc. Ideally it would be configurable via environment. For example, I want notifications for all production builds, but don't care about dev builds.

    I agree, this would be very useful. I often need to include multiple connection strings for multi-tenant environments. To get around this I've first created an environment config transform that adds the connection strings with blank values and then set the variables in Octopus to override the blanks.

    I'm beginning to think this is a good idea as well as it would consolidate my configuration. An alternative would be to parse the transform files and replace all #{Variable} instances before performing the transform. That would be sufficient as well.
