Noticed today after upgrading from 2018.4 to 2018.6, that the tentacle upgrades hindered deployment while the upgrade task was running. In many cases it's more important to upgrade the server itself for ui fixes and such, but having to due halt all deployment for a couple of hours due to health checks and upgrades afterwards makes updates really annoying to do during work hours.
If the tentacle upgrade task could be scheduled to a custom time, such as night time, updates would be easier to manage during work hours.
Thanks everyone who voted on this. We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how best to version control Octopus configuration, and came to an approach that is a little different to what was imagined in this blog post. I just published an RFC post with our plans – I’d really appreciate if you could take a look and leave a comment!
