This would be a great addition to OD. As mentioned in the OP, the current import/export tool is less than desirable for versioning OD scripts, especially those that are part of Script Step Templates (as opposed to those included in OctoPack NuGet packages).

I can't believe that this isn't already part of OD. This has been bugging me of late.

Wholeheartedly agree. I created a variable in my deployment project called ReleaseNotes. So, in the release notes field of a release, I put in #{ReleaseNotes}. But then, on the OD releases page, all I see is releases with a huge {RELEASENOTES} header--not exactly what I want to see--but our release notes are based off of a template.

So, in lieu of providing a Release Notes template, a variable that would be expanded by the Releases Page as well as during deployment would be great.

And one more thing: things jump around too much on the page. For example, as you get information back from the database, you "fill in the blanks", but then the page jumps around as you "progressively disclose" this information. Instead, please "pre-allocate" the space for these items. It makes it really hard to click on things while the page is loading. Often times, I don't want to wait for the whole page to load (it's way too slow)--I just need to get stuff done. Ugh.

Even better than providing "Move Up" and "Move Down" options in the menu, show click-and-drag bars on the left side of each task. Then people can simply click-and-drag the steps to reorder them appropriately.
