Change Polling Times

From what I can see, there is no way to change the Polling times for Tentacle clients. The default is every 5 seconds.

It would be good if we can configure this on an individual Tentacle basis and change the interval (maybe through the environment page).

Due to our setup we can only use the Polling technique.

This is our scenario:

We have around 100 web servers spread across 3 environments, DEV, UAT & Production. We have configured this to go through a FW. As an outcome we are flooding our logs with trivial data on the FW.

As we see it, in DEV we may deploy up to 50 times a day where 5 seconds polling is not an issue.

In UAT we may do around 5 deployments a day, so we could Poll every 30min for example.

In Production we may release 1 to 2 times a day so we could having this polling every 60min.

So I feel it would be great if we can configure times for each individual Polling tentacle.

    This would be a fantastic feature and make a big difference. Got to a couple of machines in a couple of private subnets tucked out the way and it would save a lot of traffic

    We are looking to implement Octopus Deploy across our product lines and would appreciate this feature as well

    Are there any plans to release this in the nearby future? For the majority of our polling tentacles, we deploy only once every couple of days, so every 5 seconds is really an overkill.

    do you know when this will be implemented?? we too area having this issue and causing us not to use octopus any more.

    We have to use a lot of polling tentacles, please fix this. Can't be that hard?? We deploy once a month to our clients. No need to poll every 5 seconds.

    I agree with Doug Pipe but we have a different scenario. We are a very small shop and don't have the volume of deployments that Doug has. We may have a few deployments a day in DEV, one or two deploys to UAT a week and once every few weeks to PRO. So, in my case, the Octopus server is very busy doing nothing. It would be nice to be able to configure the polling intervals to be more appropriate although I understand wanting the server to keep in touch with the tentacles. Thank You.
