  1. I've discovered that by default no variable value is encrypted unless you set it as sensitive.

    In many cases having visible variable values makes it safer to deploy a release since you know what the values contain, but from a security point of view is not advisable since the variables are not encrypted in the database.

    To underestimate convenience in the matter of how variable values are handled by people, must surely be a bad idea.

  2. I generally like the new UI in version 4, but there are some oversights which are quite annoying.

    This one in particular has caused me to stop updating tentacles. When a tentacle needs a Calamari or tentacle update, there is simply no way to see this without drilling down all the way into the connectivity tab for that specific tentacle! If I click upgrade all tentacles in an environment, I no longer have any idea what's going to happen before I click it! The old overview was much more informative here.   3. In many cases not all tenant tags sets will be used for project deployments. Either because different projects use different tags sets or because some tag-sets are used for different purposes.

    It would be great to be able to configure which tag-sets to display on the tenants selection section (Octopus 4.*) of the deployment page, allowing for a drastic reduction of display space and clutter when using this section.

  6. When in a project, regardless of what page (overview, process, variables etc.) I'd like the ability to add or remove this project to my filtered projects (dropdown on menu bar). Rather than having to go to the Dashboard->Filtering

  8. The filter on the users screen only filters by name/email. It would be nice to be able to, at a glance, filter and get the current active users, or inactive ones, or to filter down to non-service account/service accounts.

  9. We have a few Channels per Tenant and have approx 80 Tenants. Therefore, it would be very useful to be able to filter Channels based on Tenant.

  10. Currently there is no option to select a Managed Service Account object type during Octopus Server/Tentacle service installation. The work around can be found below and is fairly quick, however we should offer this during the primary installation to save time and avoid confusion.

  11. We would like to be able to filter a process by Channel, to only show the steps that apply to one channel.

    For some of our projects, we have a process that only requires a few steps for one channel.

    To make it more apparent what the process is, it would be helpfull to filter the process steps shown by process.

    SHA1 -> SHA256 upgrade is currently manual (or custom scripting). It would be good if Octopus could manage certificate regeneration on-demand, with an option to choose an appropriate, current cipher.

  13. The ReleaseEdit Role permits for updating the release variables, but it also allows for editing the release version, the deployment package that it deploys, and the Release Notes.

    The ability to update the release variables should be a separate role, say: ReleaseUpdateVariables, from editing the release version and package versions.

    ReleaseEdit should cover updating the release version, and the deployment package version it deploys.

    I'd also suggest adding third role for updating the release notes: ReleaseupdateNotes for appending to (but not otherwise modifying) the release notes.

  14. Our security and audit team could benefit from access to the Test Permissions function on the Team page as it would allow them to see an aggregation of all permissions granted to a particular user and how such permissions are limited in terms of scope.

    Currently this feature is only available to Octopus Admins. If a user has TeamView, UserRoleView and UserView permissions, then the Test Permissions feature exposes nothing that cannot otherwise be derived via the Teams and Roles pages.   15. In an environment with multiple domains (such as DOM1, DOM2, and DOM3) you may have an Active Directory (AD) group in multiple domains with the same name (such as ITSupport). When you add the AD group ITSupport from two domains to an Octopus Team it lists ITSupport twice but it doesn't show which domain they came from. It would be better if it showed the domain name too such as DOM1\ITSupport and DOM3\ITSupport.

  17. Properly implemented RBAC means Users in Teams have specific permissions, on specific objects. And no permissions at all on all the other objects.

    E.g.: Currently Users in the role of Project Contributor, assigned in a Team, with a Project Group set to it, can still perform edits in projects out of their scope.

    My intended use is for 'Business' Users to be assigned to a Team which allows them to see only their own projects, and not anything else. In these projects they should be able to promote a release to Production (or other stages).

  18. Currently the audit screen only shows when an item was deployed or changed with 'x days ago', 'x minutes ago' etc.

    It would much more useful to able to provide this information to an auditor (say when undergoing a SOC II audit) if this was the actual date/time.

  20. We have started using the reporting feature and it would be really useful if the project group could be included with the data. We are dealing with a large number of projects so being able to filter reports by the project group is essential.
